How Ultima Markets works when you are paying in ringgit

The mechanics are the same anywhere; what is specific to Malaysia is the currency hop at the start and the regulatory ground under the whole thing.

Min deposit 50 USD on every live account  ·  Up to 1:2000

Opening an Ultima Markets account runs in a fixed order: register in the client portal, pass verification with MyKad or a passport plus proof of address, fund at least 50 USD (or 20 USD through the Malaysia Pay rail), then sign in to a separate MT4, MT5 or WebTrader terminal to place orders. Each step fixes something that is awkward to change later, above all the account tier and its cost model.

What happens to your ringgit on the way in

The Malaysia Pay rail is quoted in MYR/USD, and that slash is doing real work. You send ringgit; the account is denominated in the base currency chosen when it was opened. Somewhere between those two facts a conversion happens, at a rate applied when the payment lands, not at the rate you looked at while deciding to fund.

Three consequences follow, and none of them appear on a pricing page. First, the amount credited will not be a round number in the base currency — a 2,000 MYR deposit does not become a tidy figure in USD. Second, the published floors are quoted in dollars even on the ringgit rail: a minimum of 20 USD to deposit and 40 USD to withdraw, with ceilings of 50,000 MYR and 20,000 MYR per transaction respectively — so the floor moves in ringgit terms as the rate moves. Third, a round trip crosses the currency boundary twice, which means the ringgit that comes back is not mechanically the ringgit that went in even if the trading account is exactly flat.

None of this is unusual or hidden; it is simply arithmetic that a trader funding in a local currency carries and a trader funding in the account currency does not. Exchange-rate mechanics behind the MYR conversion are summarised in Wikipedia’s article on the ringgit.

Which terminal the account lands on

The tier chosen at the first deposit also decides the terminal. Standard and ECN reach MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 alike; the two Cent tiers exist only on MT5. A reader planning a small ringgit deposit should read the MT4 page for what that terminal cannot hold before treating the choice as cosmetic.

Sources and verification dates

The account chain, the 50 USD minimum and the Malaysia Pay figures were read on Ultima Markets’ own pages on 15 September 2026. The order of sources behind those figures, and what happens when one cannot be reached, is on sources, dates and corrections. A neutral explanation of the instrument is in Investopedia’s CFD entry; the brand’s Malaysian regulatory standing is on the Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List.

The account is built in a fixed order

Register in the client portal, verify, fund, then trade. The order is not a formality: verification gates the cashier, and the first funded deposit fixes the tier and the base currency that price every later trade.

Two of those four steps are irreversible in practice. Registration can be redone; a tier chosen and traded on is a migration, not a setting.

What happens to a ringgit payment on the way in

The Malaysia Pay rail is quoted in MYR/USD. You send ringgit; the account is denominated in its base currency; a conversion happens at the rate applied when the payment lands. The published floors stay dollar-denominated — 20 USD in, 40 USD out — while the ceilings are ringgit: 50,000 MYR per deposit, 20,000 MYR per withdrawal transaction.

So the minimum moves in ringgit terms as the rate moves, the credited amount is never a round figure, and a round trip crosses the currency boundary twice even when the trading account is flat.

The two asymmetries worth planning around

Time: the broker states 1 hour for a deposit on the Malaysia Pay rail and 2–5 working days for a withdrawal. Money moves in faster than it moves out, and those two published figures — not a ratio derived from them — are what to plan around.

Protection: the account sits with an offshore group entity — Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd (FSC licence GB 23201593) or Ultima Markets (Pty) Ltd (FSCA FSP No. 52497), whichever the client agreement names — and not with the FCA-authorised UK company. The Securities Commission Malaysia lists Ultima Markets on its Investor Alert List with a 2024 entry reading “Carrying on unlicensed capital market activities of dealing in securities”, so Malaysian statutory investor protection is not the backstop here. The broker’s own About page (read on 15 September 2026) states Financial Commission membership and insurance cover through Willis Towers Watson with claims eligibility up to US$1,000,000 per account; those are the broker’s private commercial arrangements and are worth reading as exactly that.

Frequently asked questions

How long does verification take?
Ultima Markets does not publish a guaranteed turnaround. Registration itself is a form; the waiting is on document review, and the broker does not publish a target time for it on the pages this site read.
What does the first deposit lock in?
The account tier and the base currency. Both decide what every later trade costs, and neither is convenient to change once positions are open.
Do I need to fund before I can see the platform?
No. The terminal can be installed and a demo can be run first; the deposit is what turns a registered account into a live one.
