How to open an Ultima Markets account from Malaysia
What a Malaysian applicant is actually asked for, in the order the broker asks for it — and the two decisions inside the process that are awkward to undo.
Open an FxPro account →To open an Ultima Markets account from Malaysia you register in the client portal, verify with MyKad or a passport plus a proof of address, and fund at least 50 USD — with the Malaysia Pay rail accepting from 20 USD up to 50,000 MYR and stated at 1 hour. Before any of that, weigh the Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List entry from 2024 against what the account offers.
What a Malaysian resident is asked to provide
Verification asks two questions: who you are, and where you live. In Malaysia the first is normally answered with MyKad — the national identity card — and a passport is the usual substitute for a non-citizen resident or anyone whose MyKad details no longer match. The second needs a document that carries your name and your street address together: a TNB or Syabas utility bill, a bank or credit-card statement, or a tenancy agreement.
Ultima Markets does not publish document rules on the pages this site read on 15 September 2026 — its deposits and withdrawals page, read that day, sets out the payment rails and nothing about names on documents — so nothing here is quoted as its condition. What is worth knowing anyway is industry practice: money arriving from an account in someone else’s name has to be explained before it can be credited, so paying from an account in your own name removes a question before it is asked.
- An identity document — for a Malaysian resident that is normally the MyKad, or a passport
- A proof of address dated within the period the broker asks for (utility bill, bank statement or similar)
- An email address and phone number that you control, used for the portal sign-in
- A first deposit of at least 50 USD to activate a live account
How long: Registration is a form; the wait is verification, and the broker does not publish a guaranteed turnaround.
Eligibility: Ultima Markets onboards Malaysian clients through its offshore entities, not through the FCA-authorised UK company.
The order the account is built in
The sequence matters because each step fixes something the next one depends on.
- Open the Ultima Markets client portal from the address printed on the broker’s own site and register there — registration happens on the broker’s systems, not on this page.
- Enter your email and create a password used only for the portal.
- Complete the registration form with your Malaysian residential details.
- Verify your identity (KYC) — upload MyKad or a passport plus a proof of address in the same name.
- Choose your account tier and base currency; the tier fixes what every later trade costs.
- Fund the account — the live-account minimum is 50 USD, and the Malaysia Pay rail is listed from 20 USD.
- Download MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or the WebTrader and sign in with the login number, password and server name.
What the first deposit fixes — and what it does not
The first funded deposit sets two things that follow the account for its whole life: the account tier and the base currency. The tier decides the cost of every trade — 1.0 pips with no commission on Standard, or 0.0 pips with 5 USD commission on ECN, both opening from 50 USD, as published on the broker’s account-types page and read on 15 September 2026. The base currency decides what your ringgit becomes.
What the deposit does not fix is how fast the money comes back. Ultima Markets publishes its Malaysia Pay rail at 1 hour for deposits and 2–5 working days for withdrawals, with a ceiling of 50,000 MYR per deposit and 20,000 MYR per withdrawal transaction. A trader planning to move a larger balance out is planning several transactions across several days, not one. Read those two numbers together before the first payment, not after it.
One more Malaysian-specific point belongs at this stage rather than later: the account you are opening is held by an offshore company of the group — Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd (FSC licence GB 23201593) or Ultima Markets (Pty) Ltd (FSCA FSP No. 52497), named in the client agreement — not by Ultima Markets UK Limited, whose FCA authorisation under reference 470325 can be checked on the FCA Register (entity list read on 15 September 2026). Whatever the process looks like on screen, that is the entity you are contracting with. For the identity document itself, see Wikipedia on MyKad.
Sources and verification dates
Account minimums, the Malaysia Pay limits and the entity list were read on Ultima Markets’ own pages on 15 September 2026. The regulatory position is published by the Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List; Malaysia’s central bank keeps a separate Financial Consumer Alert List worth checking alongside it. The button at the foot of this page opens an account with FxPro, a different broker, and this site is paid for that referral — the arrangement is set out in full on our status and how we are paid. For the instrument itself, Investopedia’s definition of a CFD is a neutral starting point.
Before you deposit
It is worth getting comfortable with the platform and testing your strategy with virtual funds on a free demo account first.
Before the form: one decision that is not about paperwork
Everything below is mechanical. The decision that is not mechanical is whether an offshore account is acceptable to you: Ultima Markets carries a 2024 Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List entry whose remark reads “Carrying on unlicensed capital market activities of dealing in securities”, and the group’s FCA-authorised company is not the one that onboards Malaysian clients — that is its offshore side, Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd (FSC licence GB 23201593) or Ultima Markets (Pty) Ltd (FSCA FSP No. 52497), with the client agreement naming which.
Make that decision first. The rest of the process takes minutes and is designed not to raise it again.
Documents, and the detail that delays people
Identity: MyKad for a Malaysian citizen, a passport otherwise. Address: a document showing your name and street address together — a utility bill, a bank or card statement, a tenancy agreement.
The delay is almost never the documents themselves. It is usually the name: a payment arriving from an account in someone else’s name has to be explained before it is credited. The broker publishes no document rule of its own on the pages this site read, so this is industry practice rather than a quoted condition.
Funding: the numbers to have in front of you
A live account needs 50 USD. The Malaysia Pay rail accepts from 20 USD and caps a single deposit at 50,000 MYR, with a stated processing time of 1 hour. Wire transfers are stated at 2–5 working days and carry intermediary bank and transfer fees.
Withdrawals run the other way at a different speed: from 40 USD, capped at 20,000 MYR per transaction, 2–5 working days. A larger balance leaves in several transactions across several days, so plan the exit before you plan the entry.
